Invasive Species Removal Actions

Preventing the Spread of Invasive Species Working Together to Conserve Local Ecology

“Invasive species” refers to non-native species that may be accidentally introduced from abroad (such as through transported goods or vehicles) or intentionally introduced by humans (for example as pets or ornamental gardening, or through improper release). For such reasons as a lack of natural predators, favourable weather and habitat conditions or abundant food resources, these non-native flora and fauna species may proliferate rapidly and threaten the survival of native species.

In Hong Kong, invasive species such as the Common Cordgrass found on coasts, Apple Snails that reproduce extensively in freshwater wetlands, and Mile-a-minute Weed, which can grow in almost any countryside area, all pose a serious threat to local ecology. We have initiated a series of removal actions to prevent the spread of these invasive species and conserve our local ecology!

“Invasive Species Removal Actions” continues to be conducted annually. If you wish to participate or stay updated with relevant information, please Subscribe to Green Power.

We also welcome companies to become our “Green Impact Corporate Partners” and enjoy exclusive participation in “Invasive Species Removal Actions” or other environmental activities.
