We are looking for a mature and capable team member who is passionate about environmental conservation in the context of frontline supervision and management. The position will mainly involve our conservation project in Sha Lo Tung (SLT), Tai Po, which includes habitat management, ecological surveying, community engagement and public education. Suitable candidate may also be engaged in other conservation or education duties.
Duties:
- Oversee every stage of the project in SLT, including planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, reporting and achievement sharing to fulfil the agreed conservation goals within designated time frames;
- Manage the on-site workforce and coordinate with other team members to implement habitat restoration and maintenance works;
- Coordinate ecological and environmental studies to inform habitat management decisions;
- Communicate and maintain good relationships with different stakeholders and partners, including government departments, professional bodies, community groups, etc.
- Coordinate engagement activities for schools and the community, such as nature tours and school talks;
- Oversee the production of educational website, materials and publications;
- Train and support frontline staff members to enhance the team’s effectiveness;
- Support other projects where necessary.
Basic requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or above in ecology, environmental science, biology, geography or related disciplines;
- An aggregate of not less than two years of full-time working experience in environmental conservation or education (less experienced candidate will be considered as Assistant Officer);
- Demonstrated knowledge of local ecology and environmental issues;
- Physical fitness and experience to cope with challenging outdoor environments;
- Passion for biodiversity conservation;
- Experience in environmental education;
- Proficient command in both English and Chinese;
- Strong sense of responsibility, leadership skills and ability to work well both as an individual and as a team player in a rapid working environment;
- Other essential attributes: positive and self-motivated working attitude, drive to progress, attention to detail, open-mindedness, strong self-learning ability, communication and problem-solving skills
Nice to be/have:
This position bases in our headquarters in Lai Chi Kok and our management area in SLT. We offer a 5-day work week. Occasionally, you are required to work on Saturday, Sunday or public holidays; compensation leave will be provided in such circumstances.
